The heritage value of the building lies in its architectural significance as the first building in Alberta to introduce Canadian sculptural themes into a classical design.

The Fairmont Palliser Hotel
commercial March 2014 - July 2014The Fairmont Palliser luxury hotel opened as The Palliser on June 1, 1914. It was built in the Edwardian Commercial style. Architect Lawrence Gotch adopted a Chicago look, with straight geometric lines resembling the innumerable prairie grain elevators found in Alberta and other prairie provinces. The E-shape of the service floors was designed to provide all rooms with outside lighting and created the appearance of three adjacent towers.

Schooner Landing Pedestrian Bridge
industrial May 2012 - September 2012Identified as the second highest priority location for a pedestrian bridge in Calgary, the Schooner Landing Overpass was designed to address issues of safety and comfort. It’s 3.0 meter wide pathway offers barrier-free access for people of all mobility types. The overpass allows for access into the communities of Scenic Acres and Tuscany Mile Coulee, and provides a connection to the Crowfoot LRT station and 12 Mile Coulee Natural Environmental Park.
